Bicyrtes ventralis is a sand wasp found in a variety of open habitats in North America from central Canada to northern Mexico; abundant in the USA. B. ventralis have broad tergal bands, interrupted medially. This species visits flowers of the Asteraceae and Lamiaceae. Nests are excavated in sandy soils; other species of Bicyrtes provision their larvae with paralyzed true bugs (Heteroptera), but specifics are lacking for B. ventralis. Active from May to November in the southern United States.
